Beatriz Gutierrez, assistant director of admission, was elected to the executive board of the International Association for College Admission Counseling. She will serve as the vice president for inclusion, access and success for a three-year term.

“The leadership opportunities I have had while at TCU have equipped me for this new position,” Gutierrez said. “I am an outspoken person who is excited to sit at the table where decisions are made that impact the organization and its membership. I look forward to working with the executive board and improving inclusion and access in a sustainable way.”

The international organization’s mission is to “facilitate global interaction among counselors and institutions in support of secondary students transitioning to higher education while promoting professional standards that foster ethical and social responsibility.”

“I think it is amazing to have a TCU colleague representing us across the globe,” Whitnee Boyd, coordinator of special projects in the Office of the Chancellor, said. “This showcases how dedicated she is to her field and to ensuring that admissions professionals all over the world focus on equity and access.”

Gutierrez has worked in TCU Admission since 2011. She said she is excited to bring back elements that will work for TCU.

“At TCU, we are working toward inclusivity and access every day,” she said. “I hope to learn from the organization and its individuals and share those ideas with TCU.”
