Sam Sayed, a first-year medical student at the TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine, and his brother Sharif, launched a nonprofit called Dayna’s Footprints to help underserved children through confidence building, empowerment, fitness … and shoes.

The nonprofit organization is named after the brothers’ late sister, Dayna Sayed, who bought her brothers their very first pair of notable footwear before she passed away.

In an interview with NBC 5, Sam Sayed said, “For us to get those Nikes was something really, really special to us. It left a lasting impression on us. It's something that was transformative. We have a big belief that those shoes gave us the confidence and gave us the will to want to go to school more often."

The TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine is for the first time collaborating with Dayna’s Footprints, a nonprofit organization based in Arlington, to raise money that will be used to purchase new shoes for 120 children in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
