Despite the ongoing global health and economic crisis, TCU Gives Day 2020 (Oct. 27-28) was a resounding success, celebrating the second highest year in both dollars and donors. We blew past this year’s goal of 2,000 participants — with more than 2,300 donors — and raised more than $885,000 overall for Lead On: A Campaign for TCU, the university’s most ambitious philanthropic campaign in its nearly 150-year history.

Along the way, Horned Frogs unlocked a $100,000 matching gift from the Hancock family and challenge gifts for each school and college, as well as those benefitting Black Alumni Alliance scholarships and the Mary Couts Burnett Library. Results from all 2020 Gives Day challenge gifts can be found here.

Here are some other important stats for this year’s event:

  • More than $130,000 was raised for scholarships overall.
  • The Hancock family — James, Anne, Brittany and Kari ’17 — generously agreed to leverage their $100,000 gift to establish an endowed equestrian scholarship.
  • For the first year, we included high-priority designations such the Frog Family Crisis Fund and the Inclusive Excellence Initiatives Fund.
  • There was an unbelievable turnout from TCU faculty and staff, with a record-setting 298 employees making gifts.
  • More than 680 alumni contributed, as well as more than 520 current and former parents.
  • A record-setting 769 volunteer social media ambassadors helped us exceed our goal.
  • This was our seventh consecutive annual day of giving.

“Thank you for helping sustain the important people and programs that make TCU one of the top universities in the nation,” said Chancellor Victor J. Boschini. “Your support truly made a difference.”
