Several TCU students recently came to the rescue to help clean up storm damage at New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, and NBC-DFW recently featured their service.
When the unprecedented winter storm came last month, pipes burst at the church, and Pastor Kyev Tatum told the news station that water was coming through ceilings. He said he reached out to a trusted group — students from the TCU Community Scholars Program who had helped the church previously with food giveaways. Several students showed up to help. The Scholars, the story defined, are student leaders selected from local high schools.
Lance Martin, a news and media studies major, said, “I’m giving back to my community, and I was just glad I could help.”
