 Appleton, a Fort Worth-based artist and assistant professor of photography at Texas Christian University, is an experimental artist whose work deals with digital technologies and their effects on society, as well as the theoretical aspects of contemporary landscape photography.

Parts of the hospital not meant to hold patients are being converted into patient areas as COVID-19 hospitalization numbers surge across North Texas. "We're exhausted," said Dr. Justin Fairless. He's an emergency medicine physician and an assistant professor at TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine. He works at the Texas Health Harris Methodist hospitals in Tarrant County. How HOPE Farm Is Developing Leaders

A Fort Worth organization called HOPE Farm—designed to support boys and their single moms—worked hard to continue its mission while ensuring the children it serves could thrive in a virtual learning environment. DallasChild spoke to the Christian program’s executive director, Sacher Dawson, about how his team is cultivating hope and academic success. Dawson shared some examples of participants that have gone on to do great things after leaving HOPE Farm.

“Also, there’s Shamar Peoples,” Dawson said. He joined our program as a sixth grader. He had a learning difference, and we were able to enroll him into a day school that specializes in students with learning differences. He is now enrolled at TCU as a freshman.”

It was a day of service across North Texas as Americans remembered and honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. TCU students answered a call to action on Monday, with dozens gathered at New Mount Rose Baptist Church in Fort Worth to serve the surrounding community.

Colleges across the country cut athletic programs and endured layoffs amid the coronavirus pandemic. Revenues those schools rely on dried up with seasons being canceled or attendance being limited. TCU’s athletic department has managed to avoid layoffs and cutting sports, something that AD Jeremiah Donati praised as one of the biggest accomplishments during the pandemic.

 American Heart Association offers communication training for researchers

The American Heart Association is offering new learning modules to help researchers communicate their findings in a way the general public can better understand. The modules, called the Heart of Communicating Science, feature writing and speaking courses to help researchers in highly specialized areas learn how to explain their work to any audience.

AHA partnered with Texas Christian University and the University of North Texas Health Science Center, both in Fort Worth, to develop the modules.

As the chairman of the Big 12 board of directors, Boschini was the point person when the school’s presidents and chancellors were trying to decide whether to go forward with a season this summer.

TCU Receives First Batch of COVID-19 Vaccines

Texas Christian University is receiving its first batch of COVID-19 vaccines. According to TCU, 100 doses of Moderna's vaccine are headed to its campus in Fort Worth. Health center staff will be some of the first to receive the vaccine, TCU said.
