Alumni Tom Hoge ’11, Paul Barjon ’16 and Hayden Springer ’19 will all be featured in this weekend’s U.S. Open. An article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram highlighted that it’s the first known time that three Horned Frogs have been included in a major championship field.
“I feel reasonably comfortable — which is about 99% sure — that this has never happened before,” said coach Bill Montigel. “Maybe there’s something I’m missing, but I believe this is the first time we’ve had three guys in the same major.”
He said he is excited for the three players and that it’s huge for the TCU Golf program.
“That’s the tournament guys on my team want to play in one day,” Montigel said. “To see guys who have played in this program make it there is great for us.”
According to the article, it is Hoge’s sixth major tournament, Barjon’s second major and Springer’s first. The paper talked to each of them ahead of the tournament.
