TCU and BSWH staff vaccination crew
TCU/BSWH Community Vaccine Site volunteers and professional staff commemorate the site’s last day with a celebratory toast at the top of Amon G. Carter Stadium.

The Texas Christian University/Baylor Scott & White Health Community Vaccine Site completed its final drive-thru vaccination clinic May 15, administering 19,000 COVID-19 vaccines to Tarrant County residents over a span of 12 weeks.

The site was open on 10 weekend days from Feb. 27 – May 15. It was originally scheduled to open Feb. 13, but was delayed due to February’s unprecedented winter storm.

More than 700 volunteers from TCU – which ranged from nursing and pre-health students and faculty, medical students, student workers, student translators, police officers, dining and professional staff – helped staff the site in collaboration with Baylor Scott & White Health.

“TCU joined this partnership to be part of the solution to the pandemic, and I’m so proud of, and grateful for, all of the students, volunteers and staff for dedicating their weekends over the last few months to join this effort,” Kathy Cavins-Tull, vice chancellor for Student Affairs and event organizer, said. “This effort is a huge source of pride for Horned Frogs and we could not have achieved it without our partners at BSWH, Tarrant County Public Health and the city of Fort Worth.”

While the community drive-thru site has come to a close, TCU continues to offer COVID-19 vaccines to the public. The TCU Brown-Lupton Health Center, located at 2825 Stadium Dr., offers free walk-up COVID-19 vaccines from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. weekdays.
