Adam W. McKinney, assistant professor of dance in the College of Fine Arts, was the winner of the 2019 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award.

Nominations are opening for the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award, an honor given annually to recognize a faculty or staff member for providing a critical voice necessary for change and for their sustained actions to transform TCU by making it an even more diverse, equitable and inclusive learning environment and place of employment.

Established in 2017, the award honors the challenging task of further transforming our community into one that not only celebrates our mission “to educate individuals to think and act as ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community,” but also creates a world-class university building on a heritage of inclusion.

The 2020 honoree will be named at the 2021 Fall Convocation and will receive a $5,000 award. All finalists receive a $1,000 award and an invitation to a luncheon with other nominees. A photo gallery of recipients will be on display at the Mary Couts Burnett Library.

“The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award is an annual award created to honor the challenging task of further transforming our community into one that not only celebrates our mission and also creates a world-class university building on a heritage of inclusion,” said Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. when announcing DEI Award finalists during the Sept. 14 virtual Convocation. “These individuals will be recognized for providing TCU with the critical voices necessary for change and for their sustained actions to transform TCU by making it an even more diverse, equitable and inclusive institution.”

Adam W. McKinney, assistant professor of dance in the College of Fine Arts, was honored with the 2019 DEI Award for leading campuswide conversations on healing and community and for his involvement in the Fort Worth arts community on issues of race, justice, equality and healing.

The 2018 DEI Award went to Susie Olmos-Soto, senior learning and development consultant in the human resources department, and the 2017 award to Lynn Hampton, Ph.D., assistant professor of professional practice in the John V. Roach Honors College.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to nominate faculty and staff members online or via mail to the Chancellor’s office. Nominations may be submitted in either English or Spanish. The deadline for nominations is March 26.
