The university will once again celebrate the power of philanthropy during the eighth annual TCU Gives Day. During the 24-hour giving challenge — from noon Oct. 26 until noon Oct. 27 — University Advancement hopes to reach its goal of 2,500 donors to TCU. This year, Michelle and Thomas Reckling and their sons Dub, Freddy, a TCU sophomore, and Thomas ’20, and their daughters Adelaide, Emmy and Rienzi ’17 (M.Ed. ’18) have generously agreed to be this year’s challenge donors with $100,000 in endowed scholarships.
Any gifts made on TCU Gives Day will count toward the Faculty/Staff Annual Campaign as well as Lead On: A Campaign for TCU, the university’s most ambitious philanthropic campaign to date. Donors may make a gift to any area of the university for any amount.
“We’re always told that any amount matters, but we really mean that on TCU Gives Day,” said Janine Kraus, assistant vice chancellor for loyalty giving. “The goal is truly to come together to make a larger impact for the greater good.”
TCU Gives Day has a big effect on TCU:
- Over 75% of gifts made during last year’s Gives Day were under $100.
- Gifts made on Gives Day last year totaled almost a $1,000,000 designated for TCU’s people and programs.
- The vast majority of gifts given during last year’s Gives Day benefited student scholarships or school, college and department funds.
- Over $750,000 in challenge dollars are available, which can double or triple the gift impact.
