Clay Garrett

Clay Garrett is Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in Tuba and Euphonium at Texas
Christian University, where he teaches applied tuba and euphonium, coaches chamber music, directs the TCU Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, and mentors students across the undergraduate and graduate programs.

An active performer, Garrett serves as Principal Tubist of the Victoria Symphony Orchestra and has appeared with ensembles including the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Winds, Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, and East Texas Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed throughout the United States and internationally, including engagements in Colombia and China.

Garrett was the 2010 Gold Medalist in the Tuba Artist Division of the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival and has received recognition in other major national and international competitions, including the Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition, Lieksa Brass Week, and the Concert Artists Guild Competition.

His teaching emphasizes versatility, clarity, efficiency, and expressive depth, helping students become thoughtful, adaptable, and compelling musicians. He holds degrees from The University of Texas at Austin, Baylor University, and The University of Texas at Tyler.
