Evy’an Osborne

Graduate Student

I am Evy’an Osborne but respond to Renee. I am a second year PhD student with a MA from University of Texas where my interest honed America’s Black and Southern writers. I earned a BA degree at University of California with an emphasis in Black American & American South literature. My focus in TCU’s graduate program looks at Black life aesthetics, literature, and storytelling comparatively through archives and memory, and Black grief narratives and history, how those expressions translate visually from marginalized communities. I enthusiastically taught college level and dual enrollment courses over a period of 15 years but enjoy doctoral studies even more so. As time permits, I enjoy memory hand stitching as Black life storytelling and as a form of archival practice, photography from Black communities, walks with Bishop-my German shepherd, thrifting for resale, and sometimes, listening to people talk.
