Sergeant First Class Jason Scanlon, a native of Ilion, New York, graduated from Greensburg Salem High School in 2008 and enlisted in the United States Army that same year. He completed Infantry One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, Georgia. 

SFC Scanlon began his military career at Fort Carson, Colorado, with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2014, serving in roles as Team Leader and Squad Leader. Following this, he served as a Fire Direction Chief with 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment at Fort Riley, Kansas, which included a deployment to Iraq in 2015. He later transferred to 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, where he served as a Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant and completed a rotation to Korea in 2018. 

In 2020, SFC Scanlon was assigned to Fort Bliss, Texas, where he served as a Platoon Sergeant with 6th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, and later as an Observer Coach/Trainer with 5th Armored Brigade. His most recent assignment before arriving at Texas Christian University was with 3rd Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he served as both Platoon Sergeant and HHT First Sergeant. 

In October 2024, SFC Scanlon joined the TCU Army ROTC Program as a Military Science Instructor. He brings with him a wealth of operational experience, leadership, and mentorship, all of which directly contribute to developing the next generation of Army leaders. 

In his spare time, SFC Scanlon enjoys coaching wrestling, running, fishing, gardening, and spending quality time with his family.
