Larisa Cherkasov was born and raised in Baku, the former Soviet Union, and received her first musical training at the age of six at a special school for gifted children. She graduated with honors from Baku State Conservatory with a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. Larisa has performed extensively as a soloist, collaborative artist and chamber musician, and has appeared as a guest artist with various orchestras throughout the Soviet Union.
In 1990, Larisa and her family were forced to leave their homeland due to the ethnic war.
Since arriving in the United States in 1991, Larisa has participated in numerous summer festivals in Michigan, Vermont, Virginia, and Canada, collaborating with such acclaimed artists as Janos Starker, Robert MacDuffie, and Martin Lovett. She was a soloist with several orchestras in the US, has been an official accompanist for several National Young Artist competitions, and has collaborated with the Fort Worth Symphony on productions of Dvorak’s “Rusalka”, Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin”, and Mozart’s “Magic Flute”. For eight consecutive years, Larisa was a Rehearsal Pianist for the Fort Worth-Dallas Ballet Company. Her appearances as a piano soloist for the company's performances, as well as for Arlington Ballet and TITAS, enhanced their productions. The violin and piano Duo with her husband, Eugene, has conquered the hearts of enthusiastic audiences in Italy, Germany, Canada, and the United States.
Larisa is a founder of the Wedgwood Chamber Music Series in Fort Worth, where she frequently performs with different chamber groups, promoting classical and modern music.
Larisa is with Unity Church of Fort Worth, first as a pianist and since 2011 as a Music Director. She has worked at TCU School for Classical & Contemporary Dance since 2001, and has her private studio in Fort Worth.
