About
Dr. Lindsay Bastian is a pianist and pedagogue dedicated to cultivating artistry and musicianship in students of all ages. She received her DMA in Piano Pedagogy from TCU, where she studied with Dr. Ann Gipson and Harold Martina. She also holds degrees in piano performance from Brigham Young University, where she studied with Dr. Jared Pierce and Dr. Richard Anderson. Dr. Bastian’s performing career includes both solo and collaborative work, and she especially enjoys choral collaborations.
Dr. Bastian maintains a full teaching schedule, including faculty appointments at Texas Christian University, the Centre for Musical Minds, and the TCU Music Preparatory Program. She previously taught group and applied piano at Brigham Young University. Her students perform regularly in festivals, competitions, and collegiate programs, as well as participating in local community groups and projects.
An active researcher and presenter in the field of piano pedagogy, Dr. Bastian has presented at Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) state and national conferences, Collegiate Chapters Symposia, and local chapter workshops, with topics ranging from functional skills and theories of motivation to discovery learning and teacher training. Her work has been published in the MTNA e-Journal, and she has served in multiple leadership roles at the collegiate, state, and national level. She is passionate about advocating for the advancement of piano teaching and learning at all levels.
