About

Dr. Mitchell Manlapig is an American conductor with experience spanning professional orchestras, opera companies, and academic institutions. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, he currently serves as a conductor for the Texas Christian University (TCU) Opera Department and teaches as an Adjunct Faculty member.

A passionate advocate for community engagement through music, Dr. Manlapig's research focuses on the U.S. orchestra's community engagement strategies. His research has garnered him numerous artistic leadership roles, including Assistant Conductor of both the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra and the Fort Worth Medical Orchestra, where he also serves as operational director.

Dr. Manlapig's conducting has been praised for its "extreme clarity and profound artistry." He was awarded a prestigious conducting fellowship with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and served as Assistant Conductor for Fort Worth Opera's 2024 production of La bohème under the direction of Miguel Harth-Bedoya. In Fall 2025, he will return to Fort Worth Opera as Music Director for an educational production of Gounod's Roméo et Juliette. He will also make his international debut as Guest Conductor for the XI UNIBAC Instrumental Clinics in Cartagena, Colombia. His artistry has been recognized on a national level, earning him two National Finalist (Honorable Mention) awards from The American Prize in Conducting.

Dr. Manlapig earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting from Texas Christian University, where he received the Outstanding Graduate Service Award. He also holds a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and a Bachelor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from Oklahoma Baptist University.
