Michael Slattery, Ph.D., professor and chair, director of TCU’s Institute for Environmental Studies, was quoted in The New York Times Sunday, April 7, in a story about the death of a suspected rhino poacher in South Africa. The man had been killed by an elephant and his remains were devoured by a pride of lions at Kruger National Park. Slattery is the founder of the TCU Rhino Initiative that works with Dr. Will Fowlds, a wildlife veterinarian who has a passion to save rhinos in his native South Africa.
