There’s nothing quite like the beginning of a new academic year: new classes, reconnecting with friends, football season knocking at the door (who’s ready for The Carter?) and cooler weather (eventually!). As we all come back to campus, here are five things you need to know to start fall 2022 off right:

Mark your calendar for fantastic opening events.

The entire campus community is invited Aug. 20 to this year’s Chancellor’s Assembly & Convocation, a reimagined event that will bring Horned Frogs together from across campus to pass the light of knowledge and officially kick off the year. Following the assembly, all can head over to the Campus Commons for light refreshments, music and fireworks (weather conditions permitting).

On the first day of classes Aug. 22, the Welcome Home celebration will bring together students, faculty and staff at noon for a chance to reconnect as the school year begins. The event will include light refreshments, games and resources for students. Also, get your “first day of school” photo taken alongside other photo opportunities to spruce up your social media profile.

Keep Protecting the Purple.

Keeping the Horned Frog community healthy is up to us all, so we are staying vigilant and asking all to help keep protecting the purple. Stay up-to-date on your COVID-19 vaccine, and, if you’re experiencing symptoms, stay home, wear a mask and get tested. Explore the Protect the Purple website, read the FAQs for what to do if you test positive, learn where to get the vaccine and more.

Plug in at TCU.

TCU is truly a connected campus, and Horned Frogs will find a direct correlation to getting out what they put in. Students, find an organization that suits your interest, explore Student Affairs or find assistance with academics with Student Success.

Faculty and staff, explore learning and development opportunities with Human Resources, find interesting events on the TCU Calendar and stay informed with TCU Today.

Stay safe, Horned Frogs!

If you haven’t already, make sure to download the FrogShield app to your smartphone. On it, faculty, staff and students can connect with campus police with a simple swipe, submit anonymous reports, locate building maps, rally points and L.E.S.S. is More training and request a Froggie Five-O safety escort. Make sure to allow location services and connect to wi-fi for best results.

Get ready for TCU’s 150th

Last but not least, as we build excitement for TCU’s 150th year in 2023, Horned Frogs will start to see banners, commercials, special events and other exciting news. Be on the lookout for a TCU values survey, a new website with ways to get involved and other exciting opportunities as we get ready for TCU’s 150th anniversary celebration. By the way, can you say sesquicentennial?
