It’s beginning to look a lot like the holidays at TCU … and beyond. This year, the spirit of the season will shine on campus and out into the community.
As announced this fall, in honor of TCU’s Sesquicentennial, head football coach Sonny Dykes will be the grand marshal of Fort Worth’s beloved Parade of Lights. In its 41st year, the downtown tradition will kick off the holiday season at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19.
On campus, the university will once again hold its own tradition. The annual TCU Christmas Tree Lighting will take place Tuesday, Nov. 28. Held 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the event will include a musical performance by actor and tenor Aaron Tveit, as well as refreshments, SuperFrog Santa and, of course, fireworks and the lighting of the 50-foot tall campus tree.
To extend the celebration, visit TCU Night at Lightscape. The popular event is returning to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden for a second year, and Horned Frogs can benefit Nov. 30 only from discounted tickets with the promo code FROGS. Lightscape is an outdoor immersive display of thousands of lights coupled with a “Christmas village.”
Another treasured campus holiday tradition, Carols by Candlelight, will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 11 in Robert Carr Chapel. Celebrate the season with carols and hymns followed by cocoa and cookies. Performances will include Calling in Action, Here Comes Treble, The Horned Tones, License to Trill and Word of Truth Gospel Choir.
Finally, prepare for it all with your annual Holidays at TCU shirt. This year’s long-sleeved tee features the TCU 150th logo along with a festive gingerbread house version of the BLUU. Shirts are available at the TCU Campus Store.
