Landman Film Crew

Taylor Sheridan's Landman is coming back to Texas Christian University. The Paramount+ series will film scenes for its third season on campus in October, and Horned Frogs will again be part of the work on both sides of the camera.

“Landman has shot on TCU’s campus during each of their three seasons,” said Tricia Jenkins, professor of film, television and digital media in TCU's Bob Schieffer College of Communication. “Each season, they have invited our students in film, television and digital media to shadow their production units for half of the day.  The experience gives these students a unique and  up-close look at what goes into a major television production and how each unit contributes to the artistry of the overall production.”

Nearly 30 students from the department will shadow the production crew during the campus shoot. The students will see how a major scripted series operates on location, including how departments coordinate on set and how a professional crew plans its work around a busy campus. It is the kind of access that film students usually have to travel to Los Angeles or New York to find.

Close to 30 TCU cheerleaders will also take part in the production. Their involvement ties to the storyline of Ainsley Norris, played by Michelle Randolph, who left home in season two to attend TCU and join its cheerleading program.

The new season builds on a relationship between the show and the university that has grown over the past two years. Landman used TCU as a backdrop during season two, and the production brought on students as extras and production assistants. Sheridan, a Fort Worth native, received an honorary degree from TCU in 2025.

Production on season three began in late September in the Fort Worth area. The series, co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, stars Billy Bob Thornton as oil executive Tommy Norris. Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date for the new season.
