COVID-19 Information

Dear Campus Community,

I write today to inform you that an employee of Turner Construction working at Amon G. Carter Stadium has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual is currently doing well, receiving care and recovering at home. Our thoughts are with this individual and their family. We wish all those affected by COVID-19 a speedy recovery.

The contractor worked primarily outside and was last at the site on March 24. Given the individual’s limited exposure on campus and the construction company’s adherence to CDC guidelines, the general risk to the Texas Christian University community from this case is considered low.

Please take every precaution to stay healthy and stop the spread of coronavirus. Remember to wash your hands frequently, cover your mouth if you cough or sneeze and practice social distancing when you must go out. If you experience flu-like symptoms and have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, call your healthcare provider. The CDC website is a great resource for individuals and families.

This is the first reported case of COVID-19 on the TCU campus and most likely it will not be the last. While the virus threatens our physical health, it also affects our mental well-being. I encourage you to take this time to focus on your overall well-being and seek support from the variety of resources available to TCU students, faculty and staff.

Additional information and updates will continue to be posted on the university’s COVID-19 information website, tcu.edu/coronavirus.

Your health and the health of the TCU community are our top priorities.

Sincerely,

Jane Torgerson, M.D.
Medical Director, Brown-Lupton Health Center
