What is TCU doing to ensure good indoor air quality during the pandemic?
Last Updated May 25, 2021
The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)
has provided guidance updates for maintaining and operating HVAC systems as more becomes
known about COVID-19 transmission. Per CDC, properly operated and maintained systems
with increased fresh air provide the best air quality environment to minimize any
HVAC aspects of virus transmission. TCU has adopted ASHRAE’s recommendations to increase
fresh air input into the system to the greatest extent possible while still maintaining
required temperature and humidity set points. TCU Facilities also is actively involved
in frequent discussions with other universities and industry experts on various approaches
to indoor air quality and emerging guidance.
