Jim Weinstein, Ph.D.

James L. Weinstein is the Director of the Roach Institute of Athlete Engineering at Texas Christian University and an Honorary Professor in the School of Engineering at Deakin University. A registered dietitian, board-certified specialist in sports dietetics, and Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, he brings experience in nutrition, human performance, and organizational leadership to the Institute. His work connects engineering, sport science, and health research to support performance and readiness across athletic, military, and occupational populations. Before joining TCU, Dr. Weinstein served in leadership roles with Mississippi State University’s Athlete Engineering Institute. He is a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel whose career included supporting military personnel as a sports dietitian, commanding medical squadrons, and serving as Medical Group Commander at Columbus Air Force Base. He earned his Ph.D. in Human Nutrition from the University of Connecticut.
