SuperFrog mascot revealed at commencement

Share

In good superhero fashion, the identity of Texas Christian University’s beloved SuperFrog mascot is a mystery, no doubt contributing to his power and lovableness. Another tradition, however, is that students donning the beloved Frog costumes may reveal themselves at their commencement with a diploma in one hand and a massive mascot head in the other.

This year, at the reimagined all-university commencement celebration, graduates, families, faculty and all got to witness this in stereo. Matt Lowe and Logan Lowery met on stage, revealing not only their identity, but the rare occasion of seeing more than one SuperFrog at a time.

For them, it was the ending of a magical journey.

“SuperFrog represents the magic and joy of TCU,” Lowery, musical theatre major, said. “This place transforms lives, uplifts voices and creates an incredibly fun environment to grow in. SuperFrog captures the excitement of being part of the TCU community.”

Lowe, a criminology and criminal justice major, said that being SuperFrog transformed the way he saw TCU.

“I doubt that anyone on this campus has had more fascinating interactions with people than I have had in that suit,” he said. “I have met some amazing players, kind grandparents and crazy fans.”

The two recently shared about their journeys as Horned Frogs – inside of the suit and out. Read more about Lowe from the AddRan College of Liberal Arts, and read more about Lowery from the College of Fine Arts.
