National Academies of Practice (NAP)

The National Academies of Practice (NAP) is a non-profit organization founded in 1981 to advise governmental bodies on our healthcare system. Their mission is to foster collaboration and advocate for policies that are in the best interest of individuals and communities. National Academies Fellows are distinguished practitioners and scholars elected by their peers from fourteen different health professions to join the only interprofessional group of healthcare practitioners and scholars dedicated to supporting affordable, accessible, coordinated quality healthcare for all.

Faculty and staff may be eligible to be nominated as a distinguished practitioner and scholar. Per NAP membership guidelines, nominees shall be US citizens who have an exemplary career of ten years or more, and are committed to interprofessional practice and accessible, affordable healthcare for all. Applicants are judged by distinguished peers to have made significant and enduring contributions in their profession. Election as a Distinguished Fellow shall be for life, upon annual payment of membership dues. Inquire with Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences Assistant Dean-Dr. Lynn Jackson for more information.

NAP publishes the Journal of Interprofessional Education & Research (JIEP), a peer-reviewed, online-only journal quarterly. Focused on dissemination of articles related to interprofessional education, practice and research, you do not have to be a member to submit an article.
