We direct our research, teaching, and outreach toward solving problems of the environment and strive to provide classroom, research and field-based experiences to enable you to become a strong scientist and ethical leader in our profession.

Environmental science students can enhance their experience by participating in unique study abroad opportunities to South Africa or Costa Rica through the Institute of Environmental Science’s TCU Rhino Initiative or the Costa Rica Research Station.

TCU also offers a minor in sustainability.

Career Prospects


Environmental science graduates work around the world in areas of local, state, and national government; industry; education and consulting. They have pursued graduate study in areas such as environmental engineering, water chemistry, botany, geographic information systems, marine sciences, wildlife management, and natural resources.
